This compact, intelligent distance sensor uses ultrasonic waves and the time-of-flight (ToF) measurement principle to determine the distance to objects. It is suitable for a wide range of applications in distance and level monitoring. Unlike other distance measurement methods (e.g., laser-based measurement), the DSS 015 can detect even transparent objects such as glass, film, and liquids, and is insensitive to changing lighting conditions. The IO-Link interface greatly simplifies connection to higher-level control systems (e.g., PLCs).
